MORE ABOUT THE PROFESSIONAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY INDUSTRY
The digital era of photography has spawned a generation of people that love the camera and smart phone filters. Many even take a shot at being a professional as their hobby and photograph their friends and family.
So, why hire a professional photographer?
YEARS OF PASSION
Cameras and Photo manipulation has been an interest of mine since before the world wide web existed. I love everything about this profession. I have spent years learning how to see the best side of people and bringing them out on camera. You also develop the necessary confidence to handle any situation when (not if) it comes up. This profession has so many skills you need to perfect in order to succeed. Here is a list of some of the most crucial skills.
YEARS OF DEDICATED EXPERIENCE TALKING TO PEOPLE
Yes, talking to people should be a huge check mark when looking for the right photographer. As a professional photographer it is an art in itself to communicate with people. Each individual has a unique personality. We must break through their surface level nervousness to get the best results. Only a well-seasoned photographer will bring the confidence needed to capture this emotion. Even the most expensive camera in the world cannot do this.
CONTINUOUS RESEARCH INTO THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY AND SOFTWARE
Every year a new camera, lens or piece of software seems to revolutionize what you can do with the beautiful art of photography. As a seasoned professional I am passionate about finding the best ways to improve my ability to enhance the quality of my art. I stay up to date with the best equipment and update my technology on a regular basis.
THE ABILITY TO MANIPULATE AND CONTROL LIGHT
Light comes in many levels. Knowing how to adjust for every situation to get a visually stunning result is something you learn over years of experimentation and love for the art of light. I enjoy the beauty of natural and studio light. A perfect marriage of these two can create an amazing portfolio.

FAQ
Q. How long have you been a wedding photographer?
A. Since 2007. Before wedding photography I was a motion graphics designer for a video company that produced television commercials.
Q. What gear do you use?
Q. Do you have a second photographer?
A. Yes. My fiance Jessica has been photographing with me for several years now. She is also a Master Hairstylist. This skill always helps in moments where simple touch-ups need to be made during the photography. We photograph every wedding together and have our own unique styles. We can both look at a photographic situation and photograph two vastly different images. This gives portfolios variety and creates the uniqueness we are known for. In some situations we may also bring a 3rd and sometimes 4th assistant with us for additional help setting up.
Q. How many photographs can I expect in my portfolio?
A high quality portfolio depends on the amount of time and opportunity we are given. An average range of photographs you can expect in your portfolio would be 400-800 photographs. You can usually expect 50-75 quality photos per hour during a wedding. It all depends on the events that happen during the day. A wedding that has a lot of interactions, special events and time given for creative wedding photography with multiple locations will naturally have more in their portfolio than a wedding that does not.
Q. Why do you include a lifestyle session in every collection?
We enjoy getting to know you both. We love to learn your quirks. The more we know about how you are during a photo shoot can help us prepare for your wedding. The photographs we capture can also be great for many products we have that can enhance guest activity during your reception.
Q: Can I have every photo you took at the wedding (edited or not)?
A: The answer is no. I understand the want to see it all! An unedited photo is an unfinished product and not an accurate presentation of my work. But do not worry! I will not intentionally skip over photos. It’s really only unflattering faces, duplicates, bad lighting, etc. that get thrown out, so that you can receive all the best images!
